Self-Priming Installation
In a self-priming setup, the AODD pump is installed above the liquid level, drawing fluid from a lower level. This setup is useful when the pump needs to be far from the fluid source. However, you must pay attention to the NPSH calculations. Make sure the NPSH available is more than the NPSH needed by the pump to stop pump dry run. It should not damage an AODD pump but reduces its efficiency. Proper pipe size, minimal suction lift and correct fluid properties are needed for best performance in self-priming applications.
Submerged Installation
When the pump is submerged in the liquid, it benefits from the natural pressure, making suction easy. This installation is ideal for handling dangerous or unstable fluids. Submerged AODD pumps are used in tanks or pits where the liquid level changes.
They work consistently without complex suction lines. The pump model must be made of a material that will not corrode or break down over time.
Positive Suction Installation
In a positive suction installation, the AODD pump is placed below the liquid level. The fluid flows into the pump by gravity. This setup usually gets rid of most NPSH worries because the positive head pressure helps keep the flow steady.
However, you still need to think about the flow rate and fluid density, as these can affect how well the pump works and how long it lasts. Positive suction is good for high-viscosity fluids or when you need a steady flow.
Trolley-Mounted
Trolley-mounted AODD pumps are great for applications that need to be moved around. This portable setup allows the pump to be easily moved between locations, making it ideal for tasks such as emergency dewatering, temporary fluid transfer, or maintenance operations. The trolley-mounted design is ready for rapid deployment. This installation is highly valued in industries where versatility and ease of use are essential.
